Child Development Advisor

Our Program

The Child Development Advisor (CDA) provides emotional, social, and behavioural support to all students at Meadowbrook School. The CDA is available to any student who needs the support of someone to talk to.

The CDA consults with staff, students, parents, and when necessary, with outside agencies. The CDA program is designed to provide proactive and preventative programs as well as intervention with issues that have already been identified. The CDA is an active member of both the School Resource and Crisis Management Teams.

Some of the issues addressed by the CDA include:

  • Peer issues
  • Relationship Building
  • Social Skills
  • Coping with changes in the family
  • Self-esteem/Building Resiliency
  • Dealing with loss and grief
  • Promoting Safe and Caring Schools
  • Family support and referrals
  • Conflict resolution and anger management

Students can also email Mrs. Lawson.

Parents may also contact the CDA if they have questions, concerns, or would like to access support for their student.  The best way to contact Mrs. Lawson is by email or by calling 403-948-5656 ext. 2922
