Hello Meadowbrook Families!

Hard to believe that this is already the end of the second week of school!

Our kids are getting into the groove, and I am so happy to see them experiencing new ideas, learning new concepts and growing as individuals. This is a fantastic school, and I am excited that I get to be a part of it.

We had our first school council meeting of the year on Tuesday. These meetings are an amazing opportunity for our parent community to provide feedback and input into our school direction. Our next meeting is on October 14th at 6:30 pm, and we are asking parents to come to discuss how we can balance the identity of Meadowbrook Middle School vs Meadowbrook Junior High School. One of our major goals is to set our students up for success as they move on to high school.

As well, one of our primary sources of funding for materials, technology and events is our Partners of Meadowbrook fundraising society. They provide the organization of our Healthy Hunger lunch days, which will begin in October. We also will be responsible for staffing a casino, which brings approximately $40 000 – $50 000 for the school to spend on resources and events for our kids.

  • If you are able to help with Healthy Hunger lunches on Thursdays, please email meadowbrookschoolcouncil@gmail.com.
  • If you are able to help by working the casino on December 7th and 8th, please sign up here.

As always, I welcome any feedback, comments and concerns, so please email me at thasiuk@rockyview.ab.ca if you would like to talk.

Thanks for all you do to support our school,

Tim Hasiuk

Principal, Meadowbrook

Important Notice – Responding to Behaviour and Violent Threat Risk Assessment

The safety and well-being of our students is paramount for Meadowbrook School and Rockyview School division. As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, caring and inclusive environment, we will collaborate closely with our community partners including local police and emergency services, Alberta Health Services, Children’s Services and other agencies that support our community.

We invite you to read through the Rockyview School Division’s AP351 – Violent Threat Risk Assessment / Assessment of Risk to Self and Others, which was outlines how we respond to threats and risks to our school community.

As well, please read through the RVS Responding to Behaviour Guidelines and Fair Notice for information on how we as a school will partner with parents to manage behaviour, support and discipline within our school.

Important Notice – Responsible Use of Mobile Devices in Schools

Continuing our work from last year, students will not be allowed to have their devices on them during the instructional day, which runs from 8:08 – 12:23 and then 12:53 – 2:48. They are allowed their devices during the lunch break. This is of benefit to student learning and wellbeing, and also in compliance with Alberta legislation and RVS policy and procedure. Please read more about this here in the related AP148.

If at any time you need to contact your child, please call the school office and we will be able to connect you.
