Bulldog Bulletin - 08/29/2025
Posted onGreetings Families!
We are excited to start a new year at Meadowbrook School on Tuesday. The kids will have a full day, so expect them to come home tired!
Students will start the day by going to their homeroom, which will be listed in PowerSchool. You will also be receiving an email from your child’s homeroom teacher either today or early next week. In their homeroom, students will go through their schedule and receive their locker for the year. Please remember to bring your locks!
There will be assemblies for each grade where we will go through the expectations we have as Meadowbrook Bulldogs. When their grade level assembly is finished, students will receive a snack provided by the School Council.
We look forward to welcoming and supporting your kids this year,
Tim Hasiuk
Principal

As we begin a new school year, student safety remains our top priority. The Airdrie RCMP, in partnership with local schools, will be monitoring school zones and conducting traffic enforcement throughout the year. Parents and guardians are reminded to reduce speed, avoid distracted driving, use designated drop-off areas, and obey all traffic signage. Enforcement actions, including tickets, will be issued when necessary. By working together, we can ensure a safe environment for every child.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to keeping our students safe.
Attendance has been shown to be one of the most signiEicant factors associated with success in school. There is research showing that students with attendance in the 85% and up range will be more likely to graduate, achieve high grades and have post secondary opportunities. Teachers and administration monitor attendance to ensure students have the greatest opportunity for success.
RVS uses SchoolMessenger to report student absences and late arrivals. This can be accessed on their website or through their App (iOS / Android). If a student is going to be absent, parents are to report that absence through SchoolMessenger and provide the reason for the student absence. The Eirst time you use the platform, select sign-up and follow the prompts.
When students need to leave the school part way through the day, parents must sign them out of the office or speak directly to the office personnel. This is to ensure the safety of the students in our care.
Parents can access student grades and progress by logging into the PowerSchool platform on the web, or through the PowerSchool App (iOS / Android). Help with accessing and navigating PowerSchool can be found here, on the RVS Website. If you are having difficulties, please call or visit the school and we can help you to resolve any issues.
School Engage is a section of PowerSchool where all of the forms you will need to read and Eill out are. Please complete the start of year forms, as they also include the general Eield trip form required for students to participate in any school activities that may include leaving the school grounds, such as the Terry Fox run.
To ensure that you are able to securely and safely able to pay for school fees and Eield trips, RVS uses the School Cash platform. Instructions on how to register for School Cash are available here. If there is an error in the charges on your account, please contact Nadine Mcewing at the school.
Technology access has become an integral part of the education system, and students will often perform research and utilize office tools using computers. We have a limited number of school devices, so if your child has access to a device they can use at school, it would be greatly appreciated if they could bring it. The school tech will help to get students access to the internet.
In line with Alberta legislation, Meadowbrook School does not allow the use of cell phones during the instructional day for any reason. The expectation is that devices are secured in student lockers. Students will have access to their phones for the lunch break time, from 12:23-12:50 on Monday through Thursday, and 11:53-12:19 on Fridays. Outside of this time, if you need to communicate with your child, they can be contacted through the office.
Meadowbrook remains a closed campus, although this will be under review as we continue our transition from a middle school to a junior high.
Parents may authorize their students to leave campus at lunch by filling out the form available on School Engage, with the purpose of allowing their student to go home for lunch. Students must leave at the start of lunch but can return any time before the end of the lunch break. Once returned are not allowed to leave again.
Off campus authorization can be revoked at any time if students are engaging in any activities deemed to contravene school rules.
