Thank you, Meadowbrook, for supporting the Airdrie Health Foundation. Through your generosity, we raised $200 for this important local charity through the sale of Smile Cookies last week. Students gave smiles and got smiles when deliveries were made on Thursday, May 2nd.

HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP

Building Future-Ready Students – PBIS & Alberta Competencies

During the month of May, students and staff are exploring how the skills of problem-solving and critical thinking fit into our PBIS expectations. Problem-solving and critical thinking are all about considering situations and making good choices. When students are problem-solving and thinking critically, they...

  • Reflect on their thinking
  • Explore alternative perspectives
  • Practice reasoning to draw conclusions
  • Consider evidence
  • Tackle problems with flexibility
  • Identify what’s needed
  • Consider strategies to find solutions
  • Evaluate options to determine the best choice

These attributes fit really well with the Be Safe element of our PBIS framework, describing in more tangible ways how to develop competence as an active citizen and have a positive impact within our learning community.

RVS seeks public feedback on ward boundaries
The Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback regarding Rocky View Schools’ ward boundaries. A ward is a local area within the school division that a trustee represents. As some of our communities have changed significantly since the last board boundary change in 2017, the board is engaging in a review to ensure that effective and equitable representation is maintained. We invite you to take part in our review process by attending a public meeting and/or providing feedback. To learn more about the options being presented for feedback, public meeting times/locations, and provide feedback visit RVSEngage.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Designated Bus Zones

We’d like to thank parents who help keep our bus drop zones clear to help get our students into the school on time! There is clear signage corresponding to our bus drop-zones and times, while keeping in mind that bus drop-offs can occur anytime between 7:50 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. in the mornings. We also appreciate that these areas are kept clear as buses come to the school for the end of day which typically happens at around 2:30 p.m.!

Off-Campus Lunchtime Expectations

Only students with a signed permission form are eligible to go off campus for lunch. (SchoolEngage Form AF 330-A)

For students who have signed permission, it is expected they will go home for the entire duration of lunch eating and recess time. In addition, students with permission must leave at the beginning of lunch eating portion, meaning they are not able to leave at other times such as part-way through or after the lunch eating portion. If students come back to campus during eating or lunch recess, they must then remain on campus under supervision for the remainder of the lunch break.

Please note that students who leave to go home for lunch are expected to return by 12:50 p.m. for the Block 5 bell to ensure they are not losing important instructional time. On Fridays, due to the shorter day, students must be back by 12:28 p.m. for their Block 6 classes.
