Bulldog Bulletin – 2024/09/26

Posted on

Meadowbrook is recognizing the significance and importance of Truth & Reconciliation Week by participating in learning activities in classes throughout this week. Leadership students have planned activities to continue the work of advancing truth and reconciliation among our youth. As we continue learning about Orange Shirt Day, it's important to understand what residential schools were. For over a century, Indigenous children were taken from their families and forced to attend these schools, where they were not allowed to speak their languages or practice their cultures. Many children faced mistreatment, and the schools left lasting impacts on generations of Indigenous people. By learning and talking about this history, we honor their experiences and commit to creating a better future." Students are encouraged to wear orange on Thursday, Sept. 26 to acknowledge and draw attention to the impacts of residential schools.

BULLDOG STRONG

Terry Fox Walk/Run - Sept. 27

The annual Terry Fox will take place on Friday, September 27 with promotion efforts led by our Leadership option classes.

Meadowbrook is so proud to be kicking off the year with our Terry Fox Run. Please help our students fundraise for cancer research and follow in the footsteps of one of our greatest Canadian heroes. Just think of the positive impact it would have if every student raised even just $5.00. Donate today at https://schools.terryfox.ca/MeadowbrookMiddle

Together, we can make a difference.

STAYING IN TOUCH

Home & School Communication

There are a number of ways to stay plugged into what’s happening at school.

NEWSLETTERS (BULLDOG BULLETIN)
Newsletters are emailed each week with current information regarding school and events/activities. Newsletters are posted on our website. If you have not provided us with a current email address, please let us know as soon as possible.

WEEKLY TEACHER EMAILS AND GOOGLE CLASSROOMS
Families can expect an email each week from one of their child’s core subject teachers. These emails contain specifics about what students are currently learning, important due dates, and upcoming events to take note of. These emails are a great tool for families to support students and spark conversations about the learning that’s taking place at school.

Students and parents can also find lists of assignments and important dates in their various Google Classrooms. Login information can be obtained by emailing your teacher directly. A link to teachers’ emails can be found on the staff directory on the school website.

POWERSCHOOL
Information about a student’s academic performance can be accessed any time through PowerSchool. Teachers will update assessment information for subject specific learner outcomes regularly. Included in this will be information about assessment tasks, comments related to student success or growth as well as performance indicators (marks). Parents and students can contact their teachers for more information at any point in the school year. A formal report card is available for downloading once a year in June.
