Bulldog Bulletin - 2024/03/28

Posted on

As we head into the Spring Break (March 29 to April 7), we have a very important announcement about Monday, April 8 - the day we return to classes.

You may be aware that on April 8th, from approximately 11:48am to 1:40pm, a partial solar eclipse will be observable in the province of Alberta.

While it would be an exciting opportunity to witness a rare event, it is imperative that we prioritize the well-being of our students during this event. Direct solar observation poses a significant risk of ocular damage; therefore, it is critical that all students adhere strictly to safety protocols to avoid any potential harm. All Rocky View Schools have been advised to take measures to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Our lunch time falls directly within the times indicated above. After much consideration, we’ve determined the best option to manage the risk for everyone is to avoid being outside during the eclipse time. Therefore, we will be swapping the lunch hour with Block 4 for that day only.

Bell & Block Schedule for Monday, April 8:

  • Lunch Eating: 11:06 - 11:23

  • Lunch Recess: 11:23 - 11:50

  • Block 4: 11:56 - 12:50

The rest of the bell schedule remains the same.

Staff will take time to educate students on the potential dangers of a partial eclipse. We encourage families to do the same. Some resources for your reference include:

PARTNERS IN LEARNING

Thanks for your partnership

We want to express our sincere appreciation to all the parents who joined us for the student-led conferences this week. Your presence shows your strong support for your child's education. By celebrating with them, you encourage your child to value their learning and develop important skills. Your involvement strengthens the partnership between home and school, creating a positive environment for learning. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping every student succeed.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
