HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP

Open House for Next Year’s Students

Meadowbrook School is excited to invite next year’s incoming Grade 6 students from Heloise Lorimer and RJ Hawkey and their families to our upcoming Open House event. Join us on May 29th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for an opportunity to explore our campus and discover the Meadowbrook experience firsthand. Leadership students will be guiding tours of our facilities, and the feature presentation by teachers in the Gym will showcase need-to-know information for getting the best Bulldog start. Plus, visiting students have a chance to win Bulldog swag by entering their completed tour pamphlet. We can't wait to welcome you!

Grade 8 Farewell - Save the Date

Mark your calendars! A farewell celebration for our grade 8 students will take place the evening of Thursday, June 20th. Let’s join in commemorating their journey and wish them well on the next chapter in their education journey. Save the date and watch for more specific details to come.

PARTNERS IN LEARNING

Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Exam Update

The Grade 6 PATs in English Language Arts and Mathematics will not be administered in May and June 2024 due to new curriculum roll-out as well as parent and educator feedback. However, Grade 6 PATs in Social Studies and Science will continue as planned. Please refer to the following schedule for up-to-date information on these exams: https://www.alberta.ca/system/files/custom_downloaded_images/ed-pat-administration-schedules.pdf

RVS seeks public feedback on ward boundaries
The Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback regarding Rocky View Schools’ ward boundaries. A ward is a local area within the school division that a trustee represents.  As some of our communities have changed significantly since the last board boundary change in 2017, the board is engaging in a review to ensure that effective and equitable representation is maintained. We invite you to take part in our review process by attending a public meeting and/or providing feedback. To learn more about the options being presented for feedback, public meeting times/locations, and to provide feedback, visit RVSEngage.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Yearbook Cover Contest

Put your creativity to the test and design the face of this year's yearbook. We want you to capture the spirit of leadership, unity, and strength that defines our Bulldog community.

Submission deadline is May 31.

Guidelines:

  • Designs must be original.
  • Entries should be submitted on 8.5" x 11" paper or in digital format (300 dpi or higher).
  • Include your name and homeroom on the back of your submission.

Sun Safety

Spring is finally here, and we’d like to remind students to be sun safe aware especially as we get warmer temperatures. This includes being equipped with hats, sunscreen (non-aerosol), and lots of opportunities to hydrate. Thank you for making sure students are ready for the outdoors at recess along with our PE classes and outside-specific outdoor options classes.

Off-Campus Lunchtime Expectations

Only students with a signed permission form are eligible to go off-campus for lunch. (SchoolEngage Form AF 330-A)

For students who have signed permission, it is expected they will go home for the entire duration of lunch eating and recess time. In addition, students with permission must leave at 12:06 p.m. of the lunch eating portion, meaning they are not able to leave at other times such as part-way through or after the lunch eating portion. If students come back to campus during eating or lunch recess, they must then remain on campus under supervision for the remainder of the lunch break.

Please note that students who leave to go home for lunch are expected to return by 12:50 p.m. for the Block 5 bell to ensure they are not losing important instructional time. On Fridays, due to the shorter day, students must be back by 12:28 p.m. for their Block 6 classes.
