Gr. 6 Field Trip to Bert Church Theatre
On January 31st, Grade 6s will make their way to Bert Church Theatre to see Where Have All The Buffalo Gone? This is an original play created for young audiences that moves through key moments in Métis history. Following two Métis characters, the story begins with creation in the stars and ends in the present day. We hope this experience sparks curiosity and discussion about the importance of Métis cultural heritage and the lessons we can learn from this history.
PARTNERS IN LEARNING
Staff Update – Welcome Mr. Ngo and Ms. Viveiros
We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that the Anderson family has welcomed a new baby boy into their family! Please join us in sending them our warmest congratulations during this special time. During Mr. Anderson’s absence for the next few weeks, we welcome Mr. Ngo to the Grade 8 team and Homeroom 8.3.
We are pleased to announce we have an additional Child Development Advisor (CDA) at Meadowbrook for the remainder of the school year. Welcome back, Ms. Viveiros! Ms. V was with us last year part-time from January to June. Thanks to the generous support of the RVS Learning Support department, we’ve been able to secure Ms. V’s expertise and continued support for our students. Ms. V’s experience and dedication to our school community will have a positive impact, and we are excited she is here to further assist in meeting the needs of our students.
School Council Fundraising
An important goal of our School Council is fundraising to support the continued growth and success of our school. Through various fundraising efforts such as Healthy Hunger, e-Gift cards, and our Casino Draw this year, we aim to improve key areas that benefit our students, staff, and overall school community. Here’s a glimpse at the initiatives we’re working on:
- Security Cameras: Enhancing the safety and security of our school environment.
- Teacher and Staff Appreciation: Showing our gratitude for the hard work and dedication of our amazing educators and support staff.
- Facilities and Equipment (F&E): Ensuring that our school infrastructure and resources are top-notch for all students.
- Technology: Upgrading and expanding the tech tools that help support learning and creativity in the classroom.
Did you know you can contribute to these efforts by donating directly to the school?
Your generous donations will make a significant impact on these important projects. Plus, all donations are tax-deductible, and you will receive a tax receipt for your contribution.
Visit the Rocky View Schools Donation page at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/592
We appreciate your support in making our school a better place for everyone. Stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved in our fundraising events and donate!
BUILDING FUTURE-READY STUDENTS
PBIS Focus – Be Safe
The turn of a new year is always an excellent opportunity to reflect, reset priorities, and focus on the habits that support our well-being.
Our commitment to creating a positive, predictable, and safe learning environment remains at the heart of what we do. We continue to promote the three pillars of our PBIS framework: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. This month, we’re focusing on personal growth and well-being through the ‘Be Safe’ expectation - making choices that positively impact ourselves and others, building resilience, staying optimistic, and developing daily habits that contribute to success.
We encourage our students to set new goals for personal growth and well-being. Parents and staff are key partners in helping students reach these goals, and we are grateful for the teamwork and support we share with you.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION
Healthy Hunger Volunteers
Healthy Hunger dates for January & February are up, and we’re looking for helping hands to assist. If you can spare 45 minutes once every couple of weeks to support our community and ensure our students have a nutritious meal, we would love to have you on board. Volunteers will help with receiving, sorting, and distributing the meals that are delivered to the school. It’s a great way to connect with other parents, meet staff, and see your kids during the day. Thank you for helping out!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
NEW 'WheresTheBus’ App
RVS is changing its transportation app to WheresTheBus app to provide parents/guardians and schools with timely arrival and location information about buses. This secure, easy-to-use tool uses GPS and tablets installed on school buses to track and report real-time bus locations and estimated arrival times.
WheresTheBus replaces the current Bus Status App used by RVS, which will no longer be available effective March 6. To ensure no gap in tracking your child’s bus, families should download the WheresTheBus app and create an account. The app is free, and families may opt-out at any time.
To create your account, you will need your student’s PowerSchool number, which can be found on PowerSchool or by contacting your school.
Click here to download an overview document. More information about WheresTheBus including how to create an account, use the app and frequently asked questions are found on this RVS website.
