HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP

Register Now for 2024/25 Bus Transportation

Transportation registration is now open for the 2024/25 school year. Families who currently use RVS bus services will receive an enrollment form directly in SchoolEngage; please complete this form even if your child is not returning to bus service. Families requiring new service will also be able to complete a new registration form in SchoolEngage.

To access SchoolEngage, please log in through your PowerSchool parent account. If you do not have a PowerSchool account, please contact your school directly before June 26 for assistance.

To guarantee service for the first day of school, registration must be received before Aug. 1. Students registered after this deadline may experience delays of two to three weeks before they can ride the bus as late applications will be processed with a start date after Sept. 18.

Families who register before June 30 will receive an early registration discount of $40. This is extended to each of the first two students in a family, with additional students receiving $20 off if registering early. A minimum payment of 50 per cent is due at registration. Bus service may be cancelled up until Oct. 31, 2024, to receive a full refund.

Transportation fees for 2024/25 will remain the same as 2023/24. A step-by-step guide to registration, fee information and more is available on the RVS website.

PARTNERS IN LEARNING

Library Wind-down Schedule

June 7: This will be the last day for students to sign out library books or borrow from a classroom library.

June 14 – 21: All borrowed materials (books, novels, textbooks) must be returned to the library. Students, do a thorough search at home and at school to be sure you have returned all borrowed materials. Please let Ms. Harris know if you are having trouble finding the books you owe.

June 24: Students will receive outstanding book notices for materials they have not yet returned. The cost of lost/overdue items will be charged to students’ SchoolCash accounts. This will be especially important for students leaving Meadowbrook! They will be unable to borrow textbooks, novels, etc., until their outstanding items/SchoolCash charges are resolved.

2025/26 & 2026/27 School Calendar Survey

Rocky View Schools (RVS) invites you to give feedback regarding the proposed school calendars for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 school years. Beginning in 2025/26, RVS is considering the introduction of a fall break in November to support staff and student well-being. The survey includes questions about the impact a break in November might have for you and your family. It is important to note RVS is legally required to include a minimum number of school days, professional learning days and all statutory holidays into every school year calendar. To learn more about the options being presented and to provide feedback, visit RVSEngageThe survey will be open beginning May 20 and close June 17 at 4 p.m. The Board anticipates making a decision next fall. Thank you for your time and input.

Come see the Houses Students Built!

High school students in Airdrie have built two houses in the community of Bayside all while completing their regular studies. It’s a unique program RVS calls Building Futures. The two houses will be open to the public for viewing on June 13, 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at 3238 Chinook Winds Drive.

RVS encourages grade 7 and 8 students to see what this program can offer them by attending the open house event. It’s the best way for students and families to get an idea of what a grade 10 year could look like if they applied to Building Futures.

Visit Building Futures on the RVS website for more information about this unique program.

RVS seeks public feedback on ward boundaries

The Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback regarding Rocky View Schools’ ward boundaries. A ward is a local area within the school division that a trustee represents.  As some of our communities have changed significantly since the last board boundary change in 2017, the board is engaging in a review to ensure that effective and equitable representation is maintained. We invite you to take part in our review process by attending a public meeting and/or providing feedback. To learn more about the options being presented for feedback, public meeting times/locations, and to provide feedback, visit RVSEngage.
