Bulldog Bulletin 2024/10/24

Meadowbrook families,
At the School Council meeting on October 15, we were excited to share a draft of our school’s Education Plan for this year. Our plan supports the goals of Rocky View Schools to advance students’ numeracy and literacy skills, build future-ready students, and create inclusive, engaging, healthy learning opportunities for all students.
Four questions frame the work we will be doing and define key areas of focus to support students’ growth and achievement for this year:
- How might alignment of reading and writing instructional strategies across classes and grade levels improve students’ confidence and achievement in reading and writing?
- How might we impact student growth toward increased achievement in Math through targeted instruction and timely feedback?
- How might we amplify student competencies to develop a culture of personal awareness, growth, and accountability while exploring career connections and pathways?
- How might we apply Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies to facilitate students' active engagement in cultivating and recognizing a learning environment that is caring, respectful, and safe?
Once final revisions have been made, a copy of our School Education Plan will be posted to our website. We encourage everyone in our school to take a look through the Education Plan to find ways to be involved in this work supporting students to succeed.

Helping Hands for Healthy Hunger
Calling All Volunteers for Hot Lunch!
We’re looking for helping hands to assist with our Healthy Hunger lunch program! If you can spare an hour once every couple of weeks to support our community and ensure our students have a nutritious meal, we would love to have you on board. Volunteers will help with receiving, sorting, and distributing the meals that are delivered to the school. It’s a great way to connect with other parents, meet staff, and see your kids during the day. If you’re interested, please sign up here through Sign Up Genius . Thank you for helping out!
Did you know that the Healthy Hunger program is more than just a delicious alternative to everyday lunches? It’s a fundraising initiative that enables School Council to support various activities, events, and resources, enhancing educational experiences for all students including technology, sports jerseys and equipment, bussing for field trips, and student celebrations such as Farewell, Hot Chocolate Day, and Bulldog Bonanza. Every meal purchased directly contributes to supporting our students and helps to create memorable experiences and opportunities that benefit the entire school community.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Prepared for the Weather
There’s no escaping the snow now and winter is on its way. A reminder to students to be prepared for recess and classes that may be going outside (Phys Ed, options classes, excursions). Being prepared for outdoor recess includes having appropriate footwear (boots), jacket, gloves, and toque to cover up. Students are also encouraged to remove outdoor footwear upon entry and begin using indoor shoes to keep our hallways and classrooms safe from slipping hazards.
Volunteering
Volunteers make all the difference, enabling students to experience learning through field trips and special events. Thank you to those who have volunteered so far this year! Parents/guardians interested in volunteering do require an up-to-date criminal record check with vulnerable sector. Criminal record checks can be brought to the office during school operating hours - 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
